It’s often said that a picture is worth a thousand words; by the same token, I believe that music expresses thousands of emotions. The way we consume music has changed drastically from old records players, to radio, to cassettes, to walk-mans, to cd players, to mp3 players, to the IPod, and now streaming music on our phones. Technology has changed the landscape of how we live our everyday lives, and some may argue for the worst.

Music however is something that has been around since human existence from ancient periods to the biblical periods. It is a form of expression that humans revert to for joy, happiness, when their sad, to meditate etc.… Music has no boundaries the rhythm, beat, vocals, and sound can appeal to anyone and have them grooving to the song. Music is a powerful platform that is so big and can reach so many people to convey a message.

I believe that music has become an escape for individuals, which visualizes a new world with words and sound to whichever emotion one is feeling. Whether that be someone listening to music on there morning commute, at the gym, feeling sad after a break up, losing a loved one, meditation, hanging out with friends, partying, whatever the scenario might be music creates an atmosphere accordingly.

Music is the ultimate escape and can take you on whichever emotional roller coaster you want. There aren’t many things in the world that bring people together and unite; yet music is one of those things that can create/spread awareness. No matter what the color of your skin is, what part of the world your from, or what you believe in music can bring people together and become one. Music is a tool that can be very effective, but it’s up to us and to those who create music which message we want to portray to our society.
